Vedic Numerology
Driver, destiny and name numbers — read the Vedic way, where each number answers to a planet in your chart.
The situation
Vedic numerology is not a separate art from Jyotishya. Each number from one to nine answers to a graha — one to the Sun, two to the Moon, four to Rahu, seven to Ketu, eight to Saturn, and so on. Read this way, your numbers and your chart describe the same planets, and they can be checked against each other.
That cross-check is the reason to take it. A name number that strengthens an already strong planet is worth having; one that feeds a planet your chart shows as afflicted is worth knowing about before you print it on a signboard.
Take this reading when
- You are naming a child, a company or a brand
- You are considering a change of spelling in your own name
- A number keeps recurring in your life and you want to know what it answers to
- You want your numbers checked against your birth chart rather than read alone
- You have been given a name correction elsewhere and want a second opinion
- You are choosing between dates for something that matters
Method
How the numbers are read
Driver number
Taken from the day of the month you were born. It describes the working nature — how you approach a task and what you reach for first.
Destiny number
Taken from the full date of birth. It describes the direction a life tends toward, which is not always the same as the nature.
Name number
Calculated from the name as it is actually used and written, not the one on a certificate nobody reads. This is the only number that can be deliberately changed.
The Loshu grid
The digits of the birth date placed in the three-by-three grid. Repeated numbers show emphasis; missing numbers show where support is absent.
Checked against the chart
Every number is read as its planet. Guruji looks at whether that planet is strong, weak or afflicted in your kundali before recommending anything, because strengthening an afflicted planet helps nobody.
What you leave with
- Your driver, destiny and name numbers, and the planets they answer to
- Your Loshu grid, with the emphases and the gaps
- Whether your name number supports or fights your chart
- A name correction where one is genuinely called for — and a plain no where it is not
- Favourable numbers and dates for the decision in front of you
FAQ
Questions people ask
Is numerology part of Vedic astrology?
In the Indian tradition the two are linked: each number answers to a graha, so numbers and chart describe the same planets. Guruji reads them together. Numerology read entirely on its own, with no reference to a chart, is a much weaker thing.
Why do two numerologists give me different numbers?
Usually because they are using different systems. The Chaldean and Pythagorean methods assign different values to the same letters and will disagree. Guruji works in the Chaldean system, which is the one used in Indian practice, and will tell you which system a previous reading came from if you bring it.
Will changing my name change my life?
It will not rewrite your birth chart, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something. A name correction adjusts one influence among many. Guruji recommends one only where the chart supports it, and says so plainly when it does not.
Does the spelling on my documents matter, or the name people call me?
The name in daily use carries the weight — what is written on your signature, your business board and your email. A legal name nobody actually uses matters less than people expect.
Can you suggest a name for a newborn or a new business?
Yes. For a child the chart is cast first and the name is chosen to suit it, which is the traditional order. For a business the proprietor's chart is read alongside the proposed name.
